Barack Obama was born in 1961 in Hawaii to a Kenyan father and an American mother. Raised by his grandparents and mother, he experienced a diverse upbringing, living in both the U.S. and Indonesia. Despite early struggles with identity and belonging, he excelled in academics, eventually graduating from Columbia University and later Harvard Law School, where he became the first Black president of the Harvard Law Review.
He started his career as a community organizer in Chicago, helping poor neighborhoods and understanding real grassroots problems. He entered politics in 1997 as an Illinois state senator and then became a U.S. senator in 2005.
In 2008, Obama made history by becoming the first African-American President of the United States. His campaign focused on unity, hope, and the slogan “Yes We Can.” During his presidency, he passed the Affordable Care Act, tackled the financial crisis, ordered the operation to eliminate Osama bin Laden, and legalized same-sex marriage.
After serving two terms, Obama remained active globally through the Obama Foundation, inspiring future leaders. He is remembered for his calm, intelligent, and inclusive leadership, and his legacy stands for change, equality, and hope.
